“Morning Residue”

I rescued this unassuming paper coffee cup from the brink of oblivion and transformed it into a chronicle of daily longing and fleeting satisfaction.
The Object:
A standard 250 ml single-use paper cup, complete with a translucent plastic lid, stained faintly by evaporated espresso.
Faint lipstick and sleeve-smudge imprints around the rim.
Conceptual Layers:
Temporal Trace: The coffee stains are a fossil record of awakening—hot steam, hurried sips, the friction of mobility.
Collective Memory: This relic stands for the billions of cups consumed annually—a shared global ritual of energy and routine.
Disposable Value: By presenting the cup as art, I challenge the boundary between utility and reverence, asking what we choose to preserve and why.
“Morning Residue” is a tangible bookmark of dawns past, inviting each patron to question which fragments of life we deem worthy of curation.
